Professional Background
Mr. Lassane Ouedraogo currently serves as the University of Sanctuary Support Officer in Trinity College Dublin’s Global Engagement Office. In this role, he promotes inclusivity and provides essential support for displaced people, migrants, asylum seekers, and refugees. A devoted Pan-Africanist and human rights advocate, Lassane holds degrees in Political Science, International Aid and Development, along with a BA (Hons) in International Relations from Dublin City University. Beyond his work in higher education, he has been actively involved with various NGOs, including the Irish Refugee Council and Sport Against Racism Ireland (SARI), underscoring his longstanding commitment to social justice and community development.

As Chairperson of Africa Solidarity Centre Ireland (ASCI), Lassane provides strategic leadership and facilitates inclusive decision-making across the organization’s initiatives. His motivation to join the board stemmed from a deep dedication to empowering African communities, championing cultural identity, and influencing policies that shape the lives of refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants. He actively strengthens partnerships, spearheads resource mobilization, and ensures good governance so that ASCI remains a strong, community-led voice for African diasporas in Ireland.

Originally from Burkina Faso—“The Land of the Upright Man”—Lassane embraces unity and solidarity, living by the motto: “Unity, better solidarity, and working with all institutions and stakeholders for a great future of our communities.” Fluent in multiple languages, he enjoys traveling, reading, listening to music, dancing, and engaging with new people—hobbies that enrich his understanding of diversity and inclusion.
