Ms. Roos Demol
Director, Africa Centre Ireland

Professional Background
Originally from Flanders, Belgium, Roos Demol moved to Ireland in 1998 and has since become a prominent advocate for human rights and refugee support. As the CEO of International Community Dynamics CLG (ICD), which she co-founded, Roos actively champions migrant rights, creating platforms for education, dialogue, and social change. Recognized as an Ambassador for Peace by the United Irish Peace Federation in Belfast, she has addressed influential gatherings, including the European Parliament Alliance Offices in Dublin and ENAR’s Anti-Racism and Diversity Week in Brussels. Roos also established Recruit Refugees Ireland and has performed with Citadel, a world music band composed of displaced musicians—highlighting her commitment to cultural integration. In addition, she advises on the ISS-Cluster initiative, focusing on countering populism and far-right ideologies, and serves as a board advisor for Precnights, advocating for migrant night workers and, in particular, women.
Connection to Africa Centre
Roos first encountered Africa Centre through her work with migrants in Cork, meeting Lassane Ouedraogo along the way. She served as acting chairperson and continues to support the organization through fundraising, policy guidance, and training board members on governance best practices. Known for her boundless ideas for events and projects, she also leverages her multilingual skills—Dutch, French, English, Spanish, German, a few phrases in Lingala, and ongoing efforts in Arabic and Swahili—to broaden the Centre’s outreach and impact.
Personal Touch
Driven by the motto, “If success was measured not by money earned, but by positive impact made on society, we’d live in a different world,” Roos is committed to fostering unity and inclusion. When she isn’t advocating for social change or leading ICD, she remains active in her world music band and spends time with her four adult children, continuing to enrich Ireland’s cultural landscape through her passion for arts and community engagement.
