Evidence Conversation Café - 19th July, 2025
On Saturday the 19th of July 2025, in the Teachers Club was organised an “Evidence Conversation CafĂ©” hosted by TheOpenUniversity’s Centre for Voluntary Sector Leadership in collaboration with the Africa Centre Ireland & Dublin CityCouncil Local Integration under the Theme: Diverse Community Voices on a Shared Future: Conversations on Equality, Diversity, Inclusion, Racial Justice, and Belongingness in Ireland.
Â
Held in the Teachers Club, at 36 Parnell Square West, Dublin 1, the Evidence CafĂ© discussed the very important topics as the “Paradox of Inclusion and Exclusion of Ethnic Minorities in Ireland and What has changed in the last 30 years. We looked at “Valuing Ethnic Minority Lived Experience and What influence, if any, do ethnic minorities have on the debates about immigration, inclusion and social cohesion in Ireland? The participants under the leadership of Dr. Fidele Mutwarasibo had very fruitful and productive discussions on the topics, including the issue of “Service Providers’ Access to Ethnic Minorities in Ireland” and whether “ethnic minorities were hard-to-reach or easy to ignore”.
Â
This was one of the set of discussions to come and how, as a community, we could positively contribute to the change of current narratives by learning from the past lessons from Dr. Fidele Mutwarasibo, PhD, findings and contributions for the last 3 decades. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who made it, and in particular to Dublin City Council, Dublin City PPN, for their amazing support and contributions, Robin Hanan, Raymond McQuarrie, leading and coordinating the group discussions, and everyone at large for such an amazing and absolutely exceptional and learning event. Thanks millions again as we look forward to seeing you all at our next event soon. Merci.
