Project Overview
This project supports International Protection Applicants (IPAs) in better understanding the Irish asylum process and in strengthening their integration into Irish society. Through structured legal information sessions, outreach, and community engagement activities, the programme empowers participants with knowledge, confidence, and connection.
Position Details

- Salary: Approx. Pro-rata based on €45,000pa (Approx. €37,500 including PRSI)

Purpose of the Role, Duties, and Responsibilities
The Community Engagement Officer will play a central role in facilitating International Protection Applicants’ understanding of the Irish asylum process and supporting their integration through accessible legal information, outreach, and community-based engagement.
The role combines legal information delivery, community development, and advocacy, working closely with migrant communities, partner organisations, and service providers. The postholder will contribute to ASCI’s mission of promoting inclusion, equality, and meaningful participation in Irish society.
This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the delivery of national integration policy, community advocacy, and rights-based programme implementation, while working directly with migrant and International Protection
Applicant communities across Ireland.
- Legal Information Provision
- Facilitate clear, plain-language information sessions on the Irish asylum process and related rights and entitlements
- Support IPAs in understanding application procedures and documentation
- Coordinate with qualified legal practitioners and referral services where appropriate
- Produce and update accessible written information materials
- Identify and refer complex or specialist cases to accredited legal support services
- Community Engagement & Integration Activities
- Deliver community workshops, orientation sessions, and peer-support activities
- Support IPAs to engage with local services, education, training, and community initiatives
- Build and maintain positive relationships with migrant communities, volunteers, and local stakeholders
- Encourage participation, leadership, and peer-led support within communities
- Lead, monitor, evaluate & coordinate the project Reporting and the publication of
IPAs user guide or manual.
- Represent the Africa Solidarity Centre Ireland at events and external meetings where it requires.
- Develop a monthly newsletter for the members information, and coordinate members outreach programmes.

- Develop outreach plans and monthly work schedules
- Maintain accurate attendance records and monitor data
- Contribute to progress reports, evaluations, and final project reporting
- Support and contribute to the development of good governance, accountability, and transparency
- Safeguarding & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with ASCI policies, including GDPR, safeguarding, equality, and anti-racism
- Apply trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and rights-based approaches in all activities
- Promote safe, respectful, and inclusive engagement with all participants
Applicant Specification Essential Requirements
- Degree or equivalent experience in Community Development, Social Sciences, Law, Human Rights, or a related field
- Demonstrated understanding of the Irish asylum or international protection process
- 2 years Minimum Experience working with diverse or marginalised communities
- Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and travel nationwide
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working with refugees or International Protection Applicants
- Knowledge of additional languages and strong intercultural awareness
- Training or experience in trauma-informed or strengths-based practice

Main Responsibilities: The Youth Development Officer will be supervised by the CPM and assisted by a steering group comprising at least a Board member, members of the Intercultural Youth Society (IYS), and members of the Africa Centre. The position is based at the Africa Centre office – however, the post will involve networking with African migrants and Irish young people across Ireland in a range of activities.
Job Purpose: To help in developing and delivering the Africa Centre Ireland’s Youth Development Programme that increases opportunities for young people to be regular participants and develop their skills in a range of activities. Some duties in this position will entail planning events, evening and weekend work. A system for taking time in lieu of hours worked outside the normal working day is in place.
Key Tasks:
- Working with the Community Participation Manager, and in consultation with the working group, to start developing ideas for the Africa Centre Ireland’s Youth Development Strategic Plan as part of the Africa Centre Strategic Plan 2025-2030.
- To prepare and agree with the CPM a work Plan which sets out the proposed events, meetings and other activities for young people.
- To promote and publicise all aspects of the Intercultural Youth Society through appropriate publicity and commit to regular communication with participants.
- To act as the initial staff contact point in liaising with youth organisations, identify and seek appropriate funding and sponsorship opportunities to secure both the sustainability of existing programmes or events and the development of further activities and meet any associated reporting or monitoring requirements
- To ensure that all programme activities are carried out in accordance with Ireland’s Children’s Policy and all relevant statutory and procedural requirements
- To maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive database of programme participants, volunteers and other contacts
- Other tasks which may be required and designated by the Africa Centre from time to time.

Role & Position Overview: We are seeking a creative, self-motivated, and highly skilled Social Media Manager & Content Creator to drive our digital communications, grow our online presence, and build engaging campaigns that reflect the mission and vision of the Africa Solidarity Centre Ireland. This is a full-time position that requires hands-on management of social media platforms, content creation, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with Africa Centre’s goals and campaigns.
- Manage all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok), including daily posting, scheduling, and performance tracking.
- Create high-quality, visually compelling content (graphics, videos, reels, stories, captions, newsletters) using tools like Canva, Hootsuite, and Constant Contact.
- Collaborate with various teams to promote programmes, initiatives, events, and campaigns.
- Monitor analytics, track performance metrics, and generate monthly reports on engagement and reach.
- Engage with followers, respond to messages/comments, and foster an active and inclusive digital community.
- Stay updated on trends and best practices in digital marketing, particularly within nonprofit and advocacy spaces.
- Support the design and dissemination of newsletters, press releases, and event promotions.
Requirements
- Proven experience (2+ years) in managing social media and creating digital content.
- Proficient in Canva, Hootsuite, and Constant Contact (or similar email marketing platforms).
- Strong written and visual storytelling skills with an eye for detail and design.
- Understanding of digital marketing strategies and audience engagement.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Experience working in nonprofit, advocacy, or multicultural settings is a strong advantage.
- Knowledge of African cultures, communities, and social justice issues is desirable.

Volunteer Community Development
Volunteer Community Development & Participation Manager
Location: Dublin, Ireland (Hybrid/Onsite Preferred)

Main Responsibilities: The community development and participation manager is responsible for facilitating, promoting, and managing the Africa Solidarity Centre Ireland’s community participation programme to ensure the African diaspora communities, their allies and migrants in general are fully involved in the community’s activities, political, social and economic aspects of life in Ireland.
Primary responsibilities
- Coordinate community participation activities in order to identify and establish community development opportunities for the African diaspora communities, migrants and their hosts in Ireland, but first have targeted regional activities in a few towns and cities as Galway, Limerick, Waterford, Longford, Kilkenny, Cork and County Dublin.
- Facilitate the development of community participation activities
- Supervise the Community activities and support the youth development and participation officer, and agree on the terms of work and activities
- Supervise the Youth Development and agree on activities of the Intercultural Youth Society
- Network with other stakeholders working with refugees, migrants and asylum seekers in Ireland
- Facilitate the community participation working group and serve as the chair and convener of the working group
- Secure funding for community participation activities
- Working with the chairperson and other staff and volunteers, lead research on private and public sector community funding opportunities for the work of the regional working groups.
- Consult with funders and government representatives concerning eligibility requirements for funding.
- Prepare proposals for funding to support community participation activities.
- Â Plan activities that will promote the integration of the African diaspora in Ireland at all levels
- Work with other staff and volunteers to plan Africa Day activities, the Africa Diaspora Development Forum, Annual Lectures and other activities if necessary.
Prepare materials on community participation for the Africa Centre website, Facebook and other social media interventions for the African Centre Ireland’s members, communities and partners in consultation with regional working groups
Liaise with private and government sector representatives to promote entrepreneurial
- Perform other related duties as required.
